What is JournalUoA?
JournalUoA is a Firefox extension that allows the University of Auckland staff and students to access full journal articles from the comfort of their home. It does so by authenticating the user via the University of Auckland’s EZProxy setup, which then re-directs the user to the full version of the journal articles.
Please look towards “Latest Build” for the extension download.
This sounds great! How do I use it?
Three simple steps:
- Visit the journal web page which has the article of your interest
- Click “JournalUoA” at the bottom-right of Firefox
- That’s it! You will be automatically re-directed to the full version of the article available
Uh-huh. Show me an example please.
Say, you are interested to know the effect of a drug called “scopolamine” on the locomotor stimulation of mice. You decided to type in the search terms “scopolamine locomotor stimulation in mice” into Google. The first link that comes up is this. Unfortunately, when you try to click on “Full Text”, you are asked to make a credit card payment in order to proceed further.
In this situation, if you have already installed the extension, you can click “JournalUoA” at the bottom of the screen and…. voila! It grants you access to full text!

Argh, I still don’t understand what you are trying to say!
